Benefits and limitations
Most of the benefits of receiving objects from DV are directly related to the benefits advertisers are enjoying. Using DV to advertise removes the potential restraint of entering advertisements manually. The benefits (and limitations) specific for sites are listed below.
Benefits to the site
- Hexon adapts to the specifications set up by the site making the amount of work necessary for the site to import the data as low as possible.
- Hexon makes sure the data is in accordance with the conditions set by the site (where possible).
- By connecting to DV sites open up the possibility to receive data of a vast amount of advertisers.
- Hexon does not charge the site for creating and maintaining the link.
Possible limitations or downsides for the site
- The site creates a dependency. If there is a malfunction in DV, the site might temporarily stop receiving new or updated ads from DV.
- If the site offers new features it is possible these features will not be supported right away by DV or the inventory management system of the advertiser.
- Hexon can only send objects to a site once the advertiser has given permission to do so. Creating a link with DV does not automatically result in receiving large amounts of advertisements.
- Although there definitely still is the possibility of a direct relation between the site and its advertisers, most technical communication will need to go through Hexon and its resellers. Furthermore, not all advertisers know Hexon is responsible for publishing their objects (resellers are allowed to market DV as their own product). This might reduce the transparency of the whole.
